Delicate Shells Stitch – Free Crochet Pattern

For this project you will need:

HOOK: Any size but I used 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US

YARN: Thinner yarn is best but any size will work.

 

ABBREVIATIONS

(click on link to find tutorials)

ch = Chain

sl st = Slip Stitch

st = Stitch

SC = Single Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

* = Repeat what’s in between * for rest of round.

Multiples of the Stitch

This stitch is done in multiples of 15 + 2

 

To Start

Ch in multiples of 15 until you reach desired width, then ch 2

 

Row 1

sc in 2nd ch from hook. * ch 5, skip 4, sc in next st * repeat for row.

 

Row 2

ch 5 & turn. Sc in 3rd ch of first set of ch 5. * DC 2 into 1st ch of second set of ch 5. (NOTE: Make sure when you work your first set of 2 DC2 that you put it in the correct ch and not the sc!) DC 2 in next ch as well. DC 1 in center ch, dc 2 in next 2 chains giving you 9 dc’s total. sc in 3rd ch of next set of ch 5 to anchor the shell. Then ch 5 and sc in 3rd ch of next set of ch 5. * repeat for row.

To end row: ch 2 and DC in last sc of row.

 

Row 3

ch 1 & turn. Sc in DC, * ch 5, sc in 3rd dc of shell, ch 5 and sk 3 dc’s, sc in next. (which would be in the 7th dc) ch 5 and sc in middle ch of next ch 5 set * repeat for row.

To end row: after last ch 5, sc in 3rd ch of ending ch 5

 

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until desired size is reached
