ch3 and sl st in beginning ch to make a ring. sc 12 inside the ring, sl st to join in beginning st.
sc two sc’s in each sc around making a total of 24 sts.
sc ch1 (counts as first dc) do a quad in next st *(dc two in next st, TRC in next st)*
til end, dc in beginning st to make it an increase then sl st into beginning ch.
sc ch1 in first st, dc two into next st, dc one into next st, TRC into next st *( dc 1, dc 2, dc1, TRC)*
sl st into beginning st to end round.
We are done increasing!
sc ch 1, dc into next st, then next st do a TRC (dc1, dc1, TRC)
Keep doing this until you reach the desired link of the hat. Be sure to change colors at row’s 6 and 9 if you want to make one like I show here
if your doing a smaller hat change colors every 3 rows, or you could change color every row, or not at all! Try variegated yarn. Would love to see what you come up with.
do 12 rows for 2 & 3
and 13 rows for 4 & 5 y/o’s and purhaps alittle older child
then your ready to do your border. To do the border of the hat you want to sc 7 then do a decrease, keep doing that for up to three rows until you get
2 & 3 = 44 sts
4 & 5 = 46 sts
once you get the sts you need just sc for the remander of the row.
Now for the rim of the hat. You need to do a reverse sc, or better known as crab st.
Don’t know how to do the crab stitch? here’s a tutorial for you
