The solid granny square is a wonderful way to make a warm afghan simply. The solid granny is never ending so just stop when you reach your desired size. Go with several different colors and sizes to make a really amazing looking scrap yarn blanket!

For this project you will need:
HOOK: Any size but I used 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US
YARN: Any size but I used worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU
Each Skein was – 100 grams / 3.5. oz or 240 meters / 262 yards

ch = Chain
sl st = Slip Stitch
st = Stitch
sp = Space
DC = Double Crochet
* = Repeat what’s in between * for rest of round.

To Start
Ch 5 and sl st in beg ch to form a ring
Round 1
Ch 3 (counts as a stitch) and DC 3 into ring.
* Ch 3 and DC 4 into ring * Repeat 2 more times
After Last DC 4, Ch only 2 and sl st into beginning ch 3. The sl st will count as your third ch here.
Round 2
Ch 3 and DC 1 into the next 3 DC’s. Bringing you to corner.
All corners will be worked the same throughout this pattern.
*DC 2, Ch 3, DC 2. Then DC in next 4 DC*
Repeat 2 more times
After your last corner, find the beg ch 3 and sl st into it
Round 3 – Basic Repeat from now on
Ch 3 and * DC 1 into each DC until you reach the corner.
DC ch 3, DC * in your corner then repeat The corners add 4 more stitches to each side every round.
