Are you looking for a warm shawl that also has tons of texture and is easy to make? Well the Caret Crochet shawl may be what you’re looking for. Try this easy repeat pattern shawl with variegated yarn or solid colors. With 2 ply yarn to 4 ply yarn. It works well with any of them!
This shawl pattern is suitable for beginners and experienced crocheters. Beginners can follow along with the tutorial and take it step by step with me. The hardest stitch used in this shawl is the Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC) so if you know this stitch then you can do this shawl with ease!

For this project you will need:
- HOOK: Any size but I used 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US
- YARN: Any size but I used 5 skiens of worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU
I used a bit of scrap yarn to finish the last row just to give it a cuter edge, but this is optional.
I did try 2 ply which didn’t show the texture much at all. Then tried variegated yarn in 3 ply and 4 ply yarn. I didn’t have enough of the blue color so I decided to just make my shawl a solid color. Like I mention in the video tutorial, the left picture is variegated yarn that changes colors often and the right one is a slower color change. I think the texture shows up more with the slower color change or a solid color.
