Diagonal Shell Crochet Stitch – Free Crochet pattern

For this project you will need:

HOOK: 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US

YARN: I used worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU

 

 

Another yarn brand with color options

 

 

ABBREVIATIONS

ch = Chain

sl st = Slip Stitch

st = Stitch

sk = Skip

beg = beginning

V Stitch = DC, ch 1, DC

SC = Single Crochet

DC = Double Crochet


Repeat what’s in between * for rest of round.

This stitch is done in multiples of 8 + 2

 

 

To Start

Ch in Multiples of 8. Once you’ve reached desired size ch 2 more and you’re ready to begin row 1.

 

 

 

Row 1

sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Sk 3 chs and DC 9 in the next st. *Sk 3 chs and DC 9 in the next st. Sk 3 chs and sc in the next st. * Repeat for row. ch 3 and turn.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Row 2

DC in 1st sc, * ch 1 skip 3 DC’s. SC into the next 3 DC’s, Ch 1 and using the SC between our shells, crochet a V stitch into the sc. * V Stitch in last sc of row. ch 3 and turn.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Row 3

DC 4 into the V stitch. * SC into the center SC. SC 9 into the next V stitch * Repeat for row. Put 5 DC’s into last V stitch of row. CH 1 and turn

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Row 4

Sc into the first 2 sts. Ch 1, V stitch in sc between rows. * ch 1 skip 3 DC’s. SC into the next 3 DC’s, Ch 1 and using the SC between our shells, crochet a V stitch into the sc. * V Stitch in last sc of row. ch 3 and turn. Sc into the last DC of row and a SC in the top of the ending ch 3. CH 1 and turn

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Row 5

sc into the first st of row. * SC 9 into the next V stitch , sc into middle sc. * Repeat for row. Sc into the last sc of row.

 

Repeat rows 2 – 5
