For this project you will need:
HOOK: Any size but I used 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US
YARN: Any size but I used worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU
ABBREVIATIONS

ch = Chain
sl st = Slip Stitch
st = Stitch
sk = Skip
sk 2 sts = Skip two stitches
DC = Double Crochet
* = Repeat what’s in between * for rest of round.

This stitch is done in multiples of 12 + 6
To Start
Once you have your multiples of 12 and your project is as wide as you need it, then chain 6 more and you’re ready to begin row 1.
Row 1
DC in the 7th ch from the hook. DC in the next 9 sts for a total of 10 DC’s in a row.
*Ch 2, Skip 2 sts and DC in next stitch
DC in next 9 sts.* Repeat for row.
To end row: You should have 2 chains left.
Ch 1, skip 1 and DC in last ch. Ch 3 and turn
Row 2 – Start of your repeat rows
DC in the ch 1 space.
*Ch 2 and Skip 2 DC’s. DC in next st.
DC the next 5 sts for a total of 6 DC’s in a row.
Ch 2, Skip 2 DC’s.
DC twice into your ch 2 space* Repeat for row.
To end row: You should have 2 DC’s and your ch space at the end.
Ch 2 and skip the 2 DC’s and DC twice in ending ch space.
Ch 3 and turn
Row 3
The turning Ch 3 will count as your first stitch of the row.
DC in the next stitch.
*DC twice into your ch 2 space.
Ch 2, skip 2.
DC in next two sts.
Ch 2 and skip 2 DC’s
DC twice into ch 2 space.
DC in the next 2 DC’s* Repeat for row.
To end row: You should have 2 DC’s, ch 2 and 2 DC’s
Ch 2 and skip 2 DC’s
DC twice into ch 2 space.
DC in the next DC then DC in the ending ch 3.
Ch 3 and turn
Row 4
The turning Ch 3 will count as your first stitch of the row.
DC in the next 3 DC’s
DC twice in the ch 2 space
*Ch 2, Skip 2 DC’s
DC twice in the ch 2 space
DC in the next 6 Sts
DC twice in the ch 2 space * repeat for row
This will give you 10 DC’s in a row now
To end row: After the last 10 DC section of the row, you should be left with a ch 2 space, 2 dc’s, ch 2 space and 3 dc’s and ending ch 3 at the end.
Ch 2, skip 2 DC’s
DC twice in ch 2 space.
DC in the last 3 DC’s
DC in ending Ch 3.
Ch 3 and turn
Now we have reached our peak width of our diamond, so for row 5 we will be reducing the amount of DC’s we have in a row.
Row 5
The turning Ch 3 will count as your first stitch of the row.
DC in the next 3 sts.
*Ch 2, skip 2 DC’s.
DC twice in the ch 2 space.
Ch 2, skip 2 DC’s.
DC in the next 6 DC’s* Repeat for row.
To end row: After your last 6 DC’s worked in a row.
Ch 2 and DC 2 twice into ch 2 space.
Ch 2, skip 2 DC’s
DC in the next 2 DC’s
DC in the ending ch 3.
Ch 3 and turn
Row 6
The turning Ch 3 will count as your first stitch of the row.
DC in the next stitch.
*Ch 2, skip 2.
DC twice into ch 2 space.
DC in the next 2 DC’s
DC twice into ch 2 space.* Repeat for row.
To end row: Once you’ve put your last 2 DC’s worked in your final ch 2 space of the row.
Ch 2, skip 2 DC’s
DC in next DC
DC in ending ch 3
Ch 4 and turn
Row 7
The turning Ch 4 will count as your first TWO stitches of the row.
*DC twice into ch 2 space.
DC in the next 6 DC’s
DC twice into ch 2 space. Ch 2*
This will give you 10 DC’s in a row again
To end row: After your last 10 DC’s in a row you should have 2 sts left on the end.
Ch 1, skip 1 st and DC in ending ch 3
Ch 3 and turn
