Since the last 2 shawls were so successful, I thought you would want another plus size \ adult size shawl to crochet. The Bat-terfly shawl is beautiful but I really like those plus size shawls that are so great for all sizes!

My daughter is 11 but she still grabbed up the shawl all the same and started wrapping it around herself in many different ways! It can be a dress for her, or a cowl, scarf, a big poncho or even a small poncho!

I really like the way it looked on her when she created a small poncho out of it and it was double thick for her so it’s much warmer!

Each Yarn cake is 1000 meters.

YARN: I used a Yarn cake from YarnArt “Flowers” yarn, color 272

A Tip to help you store your Yarn Cake after it starts to collapse. Put a yarn ball in the center of the cake before you store it. It will prevent the cake from collapsing.

Row 1

Ch 3 and DC 8 into beg ch (9 sts) ch 2 & turn

Row 2

DC 1 into beg stitch. * Dc 2 into all sts * ch 3 & turn (18 sts)

Keep in mind for this shawl you will be chaining after every stitch or peak before moving on to next stitch. So keep it in your mind that you’ll be chaining 1 a lot 🙂

Row 3

DC in 1st st to create your 1st V st. Ch 1 * sk a st, DC and Ch 1 in next st. Sk a st and V st (dc 1, ch 1, dc 1, ch 1) in next st, sk a st DC & ch 1 in next st, sk a st and Create Top Peak st by DC 2, ch 1, DC 2, ch 1 in next st. sk a st, DC and Ch 1 in next st. Sk a st and V st (dc 1, ch 1, dc 1, ch 1) in next st. sk a st DC & ch 1 in next st, sk a st and V st in top of ending ch 2. Ch 2 and turn.

Row 4

DC 2, dc 1, dc 2, ch 1 in 1st V st. * DC Dec & ch 1 in next 2 CH 1 spaces. Peak stitch in next peak st (dc 2, ch 1, dc2, ch 1) in next V st. * repeat for row. DC in top of ending ch 2 to end row. Ch 2 and turn.

Row 5

V st in V st (dc 1, ch 1, dc 1, ch 1) DC & ch 1 in next 3 ch 1 spaces. V st in V st. You will always create your Top Peak Stitch the same way through out your entire shawl so DC 2, ch 1, DC 2, ch 1 in top peak st. DC & ch 1 in next 3 ch 1 spaces. V st in V st (dc 1, ch 1, dc 1, ch 1) DC & ch 1 in next 3 ch 1 spaces. V st in V st Don’t ch 1 after V st or peak st at the end of a row. Just complete the st. DC in 2nd ch of ending ch 3

It’s a basic repeat of rows 4 and 5, but to make sure you understand how the pattern goes, I will show you the next two rows as well.

Row 6

DC 2, dc 1, dc 2, ch 1 in 1st V st. * DC Dec & ch 1 in next 5 CH 1 spaces. Peak stitch in next peak st (dc 2, ch 1, dc 2, ch 1) in next V st. * repeat for row. DC in top of ending ch 2 to end row.

Row 7

| V st in V st (dc 1, ch 1, dc 1, ch 1) DC & ch 1 in next 5 ch 1 spaces. | Repeat one more time. You will always create your Top Peak Stitch the same way through out your entire shawl so DC 2, ch 1, DC 2, ch 1 in top peak st. | DC & ch 1 in next 5 ch 1 spaces. V st in V st (dc 1, ch 1, dc 1, ch 1) | repeat 1 more time. V st in V st. Don’t ch 1 after V st or peak st at the end of a row. Just complete the st. DC in 2nd ch of ending ch 3

Row 8

DC 2, dc 1, dc 2, ch 1 in 1st V st. * DC Dec & ch 1 in next 6 CH 1 spaces. Peak stitch in next peak st (dc 2, ch 1, dc 2, ch 1) in next V st. * repeat for row. DC in top of ending ch 2 to end row.

Now you can go back to Row 7 to repeat. Remember you will be adding 1 more DC & ch 1 between the V sts for row 9. For row 10 you will be adding 1 more DC Dec & ch 1 between each peak st.

Important Tip

To help you create your shawl in the most mindless way as possible. I highly recommend that you mark your center Peak stitch so that you will always remember to put 2 dc, ch 1, dc 2, ch 1 in those spaces. If not then you might run the risk of putting a V stitch instead and would have to rip out few rows!

I marked mine using 2 long pieces of string that would be long enough for me to pull part of the tail through to the other side effectively marking both rows for both side of the shawl.
