Multiples of the Stitch

The multiples of this stitch is 6. If you create a base row of sc’s, which I recommend that you do, you will add a plus 1 before you start your sc’s.

To Start:

Chain in multiples of 6 until you reach desired size. Then ch 1 more and do your base row of single crochets. If you really don’t want to do a base row, then you’ll be starting in the 5th chain from the hook. Either way continue to row 1. Ch 4 at the end of the row and turn.

Row 1

YO twice and using the same stitch as the beginning ch 4, insert your hook and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. (3 loops on your hook.) Sk a st ,

YO insert your hook and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. (4 loops on your hook.) Sk a st,

YO insert your hook and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. (5 loops on your hook.) then YO and pull through only 3 of the loops, YO pull through 2, YO pull through 2. This completes your TRC decrease stitch.

YO twice and TRC in the next stitch, now we do our increase using the two stitches created at the base of our TRC. (see the video tutorial for clarification if you need it)

First Ch 1 and enter the two side stitches at the base of the TRC and DC and Ch 1. Then enter the two side stitches again and DC. This completes your Triple crochet with DC increase.

Repeat your TRC decrease stitches then Triple crochet with DC increases for the rest of the row.

To end: TRC into the last remaining stitch. Ch 4 and turn.

Row 2

Your first stitch below should be a TRC decrease, so we’ll begin this row with a Triple crochet with DC’s increase stitch.

We won’t be going into the stitch as normal, we’ll be going into the โ€œthirdโ€ stitch below. So instead of inserting our hook directly into the stitch, we’ll be inserting it in the space just under the stitch. I know when doing HDC’s they call this the third stitch, but I don’t know if that’s its official name, but the place I am referring to is inserting your hook into the space UNDER the stitch, not IN the stitch. I hope this makes sense.

So do a Triple crochet with DC increase stitch as normal into that decrease stitch. Now moving on to the next stitch, which is an increase from the last row. Using the DCs and TRC sts only and skipping the ch 1 spaces, you will do a TRC decrease as normal.

YO twice and insert your hook into the 1st DC and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. (3 loops on your hook.) Sk the ch 1 and repeat,

YO twice and insert your hook into the middle DC and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. (4 loops on your hook.) Sk the ch 1 and repeat,

YO insert your hook into the BIG space here and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. (5 loops on your hook.) then YO and pull through only 3 of the loops, YO pull through 2, YO pull through 2. This completes your TRC decrease stitch.

Repeat those two stitches for the row. To finish your row, TRC into the 2nd ch of your ending ch 4.

Row 3

Your first stitch below should be an increase Triple crochet with DC’s , so we begin this row with a TRC decrease. You will be repeating those two stitches the same way for this row as well as ending the row the same. The only difference between the rows is that the starting stitch will be different. You will alternate starting with one or the other, but always treat them as you would during the row.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you reach your desired size. When you’re ready then here is how you make a border on the last row.

Ch 1 and turn. SC twice into 1st stitch. SC 1 in all sts and ch 1 spaces. When you reach the ending ch 4, sc in 1st chain then sc 2 in the next chain. This is the same chain that we used to end our rows before.

Just always be sure to increase in the 1st and last stitch of this row to have the same amount of stitches that your started you base row with. After that, you can just sc as normal or add another cute border.
