Celtic Cable Weave – Crochet Cable Stitch – Free Crochet Pattern

The Celtic Cable Weave is the most beautiful Crochet Cable Stitch I’ve ever seen. It’s also an easy crochet cable stitch to create as well! The front and back post Triples crochets make this it easy to maneuver your hook around and repeat the pattern.

Without that I wouldn’t have made a whole afghan out of it for my daughter! Which she still pulls out to use every winter.

My mother in law who doesn’t speak much English took a look at the video tutorial and told me even she could understand it by just looking, so If you’ve had any trouble learning this stitch in the past, I recommend watching it and giving it another try.

This stitch can be done using any size yarn and hook. For this pattern I used worsted weight yarn 4 ply for the US and 10 ply for AU and a 5mm / H hook.

For my twin size afghan I used about 13 or 14 skeins. This is a real yarn eater of a stitch so be sure to get plenty of yarn for your project.

  1. Your patterns are inspirational, but I must just ask how much yarn this interweave pattern needs? I’ve managed to make several regular granny square single bed size afghans with 8-10 100gm balls of dk yarns, and just two rows of this pattern has eaten up almost hald of a 150gm ball of dk yarn. Can you estimate how much more yarn is needed for this pattern, please?

    • It’s a real yarn eater. I made a twin size and it took about 10 if I remember right (it’s been awhile) But you seem to have a better gauge than me since you have use a ball of yarn. So measure how long you got with 1 ball, and how much you need to go in length and go from there 🙂

  2. I love your site. I have a question about this stitch. Is the stitch one sided? I only ask because it seems the interweave stitch only shows on one side of my blanket. I’ve watched and read your instructions several times. I think I’m doing it right but I wanted to double check with you before I got to far. Thank you
