Lacy Arrow Crochet Stitch – Free Crochet Pattern and Tutorial

This Lacy Arrow Crochet Stitch is a beautiful textured crochet stitch that looks like arrows pointing down. It’s so easy to do once you get to row 6 then it’s a simple 2 row repeat that makes whatever you make form it look amazing!

For this project you will need:

HOOK: Any size but I used 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US

YARN: Any size but I used worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU

 

ABBREVIATIONS

(click on link to find tutorials)

ch = Chain

sl st = Slip Stitch

st(s) = Stitch(es)

sk 1 st = Skip one stitch

YO = Yarn Over

sc = Single Crochet

dc = Double Crochet

| = Repeat what is in between as many times as pattern calls for.

* = Repeat what is in between the stars for the rest of the row

The Multiples of the Stitch

This stitch uses multiples of 12 + 4

 

To Start

Chain in multiples of 12 until you reached your desired width then chain 4 more before you start row 1.

 

Row 1

SC in 1st st and Ch 1,

*Sk a st and SC in next and Ch 1* repeat for row.

You should end perfectly with a SC in your last st.

Ch 1 and turn.

 

Row 2

*SC and CH 1. Skip ch 1 space and SC in next SC* Repeat for row.

You should end perfectly with a SC in your last st.

Ch 1 and turn.

 

Row 3

SC in first SC, CH 1 and SC in next SC.

*CH 5. Skip the next two SC and CH 1 spaces.

Then using the post of the ch 1 space TWO ROWS down on ROW 1,

SL ST to anchor your ch 5.

Then Ch 5 again and skip the next 2 SCs and ch 1 spaces until the

3rd SC over then SC into that SC.

No need to sc one row down for this one. Only the middle anchor uses one row down.

CH 1 and SC in next SC.* Repeat for row.

Your last 3 sts of the row should be SC, ch 1, sk a st, SC.

Ch 1 and turn.

 

Row 4

SC in first SC, CH 1 and skip the CH 1, SC in next SC.

*| DC in next SC and CH 1, skip next ch 1 space| Repeat this 3 more times. You should have 4 sets of “DC and Ch 1”

Then SC in next SC, CH 1 and skip the CH 1, SC in next SC.* Repeat for row.

Your last 3 sts of the row should be SC, ch 1, sk a st, SC.

Ch 1 and turn.

 

Row 5

SC in first SC, CH 1 and SC in next SC.

*CH 5. Skip the next two SC and CH 1 spaces.

Then using the post of the ch 1 space in between your DC’s,

SL ST to anchor your ch 5.

Then Ch 5 again and skip the next 2 DCs and ch 1 spaces until the

3rd SC over then SC into that SC.

No need to sc one row down for this one. Only the middle anchor uses one row down.

CH 1 and SC in next SC.* Repeat for row.

Your last 3 sts of the row should be SC, ch 1, sk a st, SC.

Ch 1 and turn.

 

Row 6

SC in first SC, CH 1 and skip the CH 1, SC in next SC. CH 1

*| DC in next DC and CH 1, skip next ch 1 space| Repeat this 3 more times. You should have 4 sets of “DC and Ch 1”

Then SC in next SC, CH 1 and skip the CH 1, SC in next SC.* Repeat for row.

Your last 3 sts of the row should be SC, ch 1, sk a st, SC.

Ch 1 and turn.

 

Row 7

SC in first SC, CH 1 and SC in next SC.

*CH 5. Skip the next two DC and CH 1 spaces.

Then using the post of the ch 1 space in the center space between your DC’s,

SL ST to anchor your ch 5.

Then Ch 5 again and skip the next 2 DCs and ch 1 spaces and

3rd SC over then SC into that SC.

CH 1 and SC in next SC.* Repeat for row.

Your last 3 sts of the row should be SC, ch 1, sk a st, SC.

Ch 1 and turn.

 

Repeat Rows 6 & 7

For the very last row, I recommend ending after a repeat of row 6 when it’s already flat, and do a row of SC’s just to give it a cleaner finished look.
