Mesh Star Filet Crochet Stitch Free Crochet Pattern – aka Lacy Star

The Mesh Star Filet Crochet Stitch (Lacy Star) is a Free crochet pattern and Crochet Tutorial that teaches you how to do this lacy filet crochet stitch with a star or flower pattern showing through the lace.

This is a crochet mesh stitch at it’s best. It’s not just an regular open crochet mesh stitch, but once with a flower pattern running through it.

The PDF comes with 21 tutorial step by step pictures to help you recreate this stitch pattern. Or feel free to use the free crochet tutorial. This pattern is a 8 row repeat. Multiples of the stitch are given.

For this project you will need:

HOOK: 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US

YARN: Worsted weight or thinner works best

 

ABBREVIATIONS

(click on link to find tutorials)

ch = Chain

st = Stitch

sk a st = Skip a stitch

SC = Single Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

* = Repeat what is in between the stars for the rest of the row

Multiples of the stitch

This stitch is done in multiples of 14 + 4


To Start

Ch in Multiples of 14 until you reach desired width, then ch 4 and your ready to start.

 

Row 1

dc in the 5th ch from hook,

*Ch 3 then sk 3 ch’s.

SC in the next st then SC in the next 4 sts as well giving you 5 sc’s in a row.

ch 3 and sk 3 sts,

DC in next st. Dc in the next 2 sts giving you 3 DC’s in a row. * repeat for row.

To end row: DC in last 2 sts. Ch 3 and turn.

 

Row 2

Now skipping the 2 beginning sts and using the ch 2 space

*DC 3 into the ch 3 space.

Now working with our 5 sc’s

skip the 1st sc and sc in next 3 (the 3 middle sc’s),

skip last sc and ch 3,

Dc 3 onto the ch 3.

Ch 1 and skipping over the next 3 DC’s * repeat for row.

To end row: DC in the top of the ending ch 3. Then Ch 6 and turn

 

Row 3

Moving over to our first ch 3 space,

*Dc 3 into the ch 3 space and ch 3

Moving over to our 3 sc’s you’ll DC into the center sc

ch 3 and skip the last sc here and DC 3 into the next ch 3 space.

ch 3 and DC one into single ch 1 space (the one that’s in between the 2 sets of dc’s)

ch 3 * repeat for row.

To end row: After your last ch 3 of the row you’ll DC in the top of the ending ch 3. Then Ch 1 and turn

 

Row 4

ch 1 and sc into the first dc of the row, then moving over to your ch 3 space.

We’ll be using the actual ch to make our 1st stitch and not the space,

sc into the 1st ch.

*Ch 3 and move over to the next ch 3 space and dc 3 into it.

Ch 1 and dc 3 in next ch 3 space,

ch 3 and moving over to our next ch 3 space,

We’ll be crocheting in the actual ch stitch again, so skipping the 1st 2 chs and sc into the 3rd.

Then sc into the dc,

sc in the very next ch as well giving you 3 sc’s in a row

skip the next 2 chs* repeat for row.

To end row: After last ch 3 of the row, skip the next 2 chs and sc into the last 2 chs of the row. Ch 1 and turn.

 

Row 5 starts the repeat and row 12 is the end of repeat

Row 5 – Start of repeat

sc in the 1st and 2nd sc of the row.

sc in the 1st actual ch st .

Ch 3 and move over to the ch 1 space and dc 3 into it ( the one that’s in between the 2 sets of 3 dc’s)

Ch 3 and skipping the 1st 2nd ch and ch into the actual st of the 3rd ch. * repeat for row.

To end row: After you skip 2 chs and your sc into the actual 3rd ch over, you’ll sc into the last two sts. Ch 1 and turn

 

Row 6

sc in your 1st and 2nd sts,

*ch 3 and dc 3 in your 1st ch 3 space,

ch 1 and dc 3 in your 2nd ch 3 space,

Now working with our 5 sc’s

skip the 1st sc and sc in next 3 (the 3 middle sc’s),

skip last sc * repeat for row.

To end row: after last ch 3, skip 1st sc and sc into last 2 sts. Ch 6 and turn.

 

Row 7

skipping your first 2 sc’s of the row and using your first ch 3 space

*Dc 3 onto the ch 3 space,

ch 3 and Dc once into next ch 1 space,

ch 3 and Dc 3 into your next ch 3 space.

Ch 3 and skip the 1st sc and DC into the next

ch 3 and skipping over your last sc* repeat for row.

To end row: After your last 3 dc’s worked in your ch 3 space, Ch 3 and DC in the very last Sc of the row. Ch 3 and turn

 

Row 8

Dc 3 into the 1st ch 3 space,

* ch 3 and moving over to our next ch 3 space,

We’ll be crocheting in the actual ch stitch again, so skipping the 1st 2 chs and sc into the 3rd.

Then sc into the dc,

sc in the very next ch as well giving you 3 sc’s in a row.

Ch 3 and work 3 DC’s in your next ch 3 space.

Ch 1 and work 3 DC’s in your next ch 3 space *

To end row: After your last ch 3,  dc 3 onto the ch 6, then dc 1 into the actual 4th ch to end the row. Ch 3 and turn

 

Row 9

DC into the same beginning st as your ch 6,

*ch 3 and skipping the 1st and 2nd ch and sc into the actual 3rd ch,

sc into the next 3 sc’s,

sc into the next actual ch,

ch 3 skip the next 2 chs and dc 3 into ch 1 space * repeat for row.

To end row: After your last ch 3, Skip the next set of 3 Dc’s and dc into top of final ch 3. Ch 3 and Turn

 

Row 10

Dc 3 onto the ch 3 space,

*ch 3 and sk 1st sc, sc into next 3, and skip the last sc.

ch 3 and dc 3 onto ch 3 space,

ch 1 and dc onto next ch 3 * repeat for row.

To end row: After the last 3 DC’s of the row, Dc into top of the ending ch 3. Ch 6 and turn

 

Row 11

*Dc 3 into the ch 3 space,

Skip the 1st and last sc and just Dc 1 into center sc,

ch 3 and dc 3 onto ch 3 space,

ch 3 and dc into ch 1 space,

ch 3 * repeat for row.

To end row: after the last set of 3 DC’s, Ch 3 and dc into top of ending ch 3. Ch 1 and turn

 

Row 12 – Last row of repeat – Start back at row 5 after row 12

sc into the 1st DC st of the row,

sc into the actual 1st ch of your ch 3,

*ch 3 and dc 3 onto the ch 3 space,

ch 1 and dc 3 onto next ch 3 space,

ch 3 and skipping the 1st 2 chs and sc into the actual 3rd ch,

and sc into dc,

sc into the actual next ch st * repeat for row.

To end row: after last ch 3, we’ll come to our ending ch 6 area.

sk 1st 2 chs and sc into the actual next 2 chs to end the row. CH 1 and turn
