Crochet Baby Blanket – Marshmallow Baby Blanket – Free Crochet pattern

This Crochet Baby Blanket pattern came after the release of the Butterfly Riptide Shawl because  I had many requests asking me if it could be turned into an afghan. So I got to work and this is what I came up with. I hope you like it! I included the multiples so that you can make a bigger version of this afghan if you like.

Marshmallow Baby Blanket – Free Crochet pattern

For this project you will need:

HOOKS: 5 mm \ H hook for the US also I recommend using a 6 mm \ J hook to create your beginning chain to ensure it won’t be to tight later.

You will also need a Tapestry Needle to hide your tails

YARN:

Worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU

Another yarn brand with color options

Skein info:

100 grams / 3.5. oz

and 240 meters / 262 yards

The Color Scheme & how much yarn I used

I used 2 Skeins of white and 1 skein of Dark Brown, Coffee Brown, Tan, Grey and light blue for a total of 6 colors. These Skeins were in my scraps and a few were not totally new skeins and I still didn’t run out. But I recommend 2 full skeins of white because it’s used for more rows of the afghan, plus the border.

**Color changes happen every 2 rows of this pattern. Unless your on White rows which last for 4 rows.**

The Multiples

The multiple of this design is 22 + 15

What that means is you will ch in multiples of 22 (so your stitches will be 44, 66… etc) until you reach your desired width, then when you’re ready ch 15 more and your ready to begin your afghan.

Sizing

I made my afghan baby size. I always make my baby blankets big so that it fits the full crib and the baby can use it for a few years.

My ending size without a border is:

45” wide, 60” tall \ 114 cms wide, 152 cms tall
