Newborn Breast Feeding Boob Beanie – Free Crochet Pattern

 

 

This Breast feeding crochet beanie came about because my sister in law was pregnant and came across a picture of a breastfeeding mother and the baby was wearing a boob beanie. She sent the picture to me and asked if I could make her one. This is what I came up with!

Newborn Breastfeeding Boob Beanie – Free Crochet Pattern

For this project you will need:

HOOK: 4 mm hook or size G hook for the US and a 5 mm \ H hook

YARN: two colors needed:

Two colors of worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU

 

I used a peachy pink color for my nipple and off white for the skin color.

ABBREVIATIONS

(click on link to find tutorials)

ch = Chain

sl st = Slip Stitch

st = Stitch

sk = Skip

dec = decrease

FLO = Front Loop Only

BLO = Back Loop Only

beg = beginning

YO = Yarn Over

SC = Single Crochet

SCFP \ SCBP Front & Back post Single Crochet

Sc dec = single crochet decrease


Repeat what’s in between * for rest of round.

To start – With peach and your 4 mm hook or size G hook

ch 4 (or 3 if you want a smaller nipple)

 

 

Round 1

ch 4 (or 3 if you want a smaller nipple) sc into 2nd ch from hook and the next 2 chs. Sc again into the last ch and pivot your work. We’ll be working on the bottom of your chains now. Sc in the next 3 chs. Sl st into beg st.

 

 

Round 2

Fold your piece in half length wise, row to row and sl st 3 times down your sts to sew your piece closed.

 

 

Round 3

in the last st put 6 sc’s. Sl st in beg sc to close round. (6)

 

 

Round 4

Ch 1 and turn your work. Now facing this new way, sc inc in all 6 sts. Sl st in beg st to end round. (12)

 

 

Round 5 – Place Stitch Marker Here

Sc inc in all sts (24) don’t end row, just keep one continuous round.

 

 

 

Round 6

* sc in the next 3, sc inc * repeat for round. Sc in last 2 sts of round. (27)

 

 

 

Round 7

CH 1 and using your FLO, crab st starting with the first sc. Sl st in beg crab st to end your row. Now it’s time to change colors.

 

 

 

Round 8 – Using Off White

Switch out your pink for white color and ch 1, using the Back loops from round 7…. * sc in the BLO in the next 4 sts, sc inc * repeat. Sc in the last 2 sts of round. (32)

 

 

 

Time to Change to your 5 mm hook

 

 

Round 9 – with 5 mm hook and Off White Yarn

sc in all sts (32)

 

 

 

Round 10

Place Marker here – * sc in next 3 sts, sc inc * repeat for row (40)

 

 

Rounds 11 – 20 (9 rounds)

sc in all sts (40)

 

 

 

Round 21

FPSC on the post of the first sc of the round, then do a BPSC on the post of the next st. Repeat alternating FPSC and BPSC all the way around.

 

 

 

Round 22 – 24

FPSC onto the first FPSC of round, BPSC on the next BPSC of round. Repeat alternating FPSC and BPSC all the way around. After round 24 sl st on the first FPSC of round, and sl st in the next st as well. Ch 1 and cut yarn.
