Riptide Beanie – Beehive beanie Free Crochet Pattern

 

 

The riptide beanie is simple to create and makes a great crochet beanie for both men and women. The beehive looking beanie is very in right now. I hope you’ll give it a try.

Riptide Beanie – Free Crochet Pattern

For this project you’ll need:

HOOK: 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US

YARN: 1 skein of worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU

100 grams / 3.5. oz

240 meters / 262 yards

ABBREVIATIONS

(click on link to find tutorials)

ch = Chain

sl st = Slip Stitch

st = Stitch

SC = Single Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

Sc dec = single crochet decrease

BPDC = Back Post Double Crochet

BPSC = Back post single crochet

* = Repeat what is in between the stars for the rest of the row

To Start:
Ch 3 and sl st into beginning ch to form a ring.

 

Round 1
ch 2 and dc 11 into ring, sl st to join in top of ch 1 (12 sts)

 

Round 2
ch 1, sc and ch 1, and dc 1 into the same space as the sc and ch 1, dc 2 in each dc around, sl st to join in top of ch 1 (24 sts)

 

Round 3
ch 1, sc and ch 1, and dc 2 into next dc, ( dc 1, dc 2,) sl st to join in top of ch 1 (36 sts)

 

Round 4
ch 1, sc and ch 1, dc 1 in next dc, dc 2 in next dc, (dc 1, dc 1, dc 2, work 2 dc in next dc) sl st to
join in top of ch 1 (48 sts)

 

Round 5
ch 1, sc and ch 1, dc 1 in each of next 2 dc, dc 2 in next dc, (dc 1, dc 1, dc 1, dc 2)
sl st to join in top of ch 1 (60 sts)

 

Round 6 
ch 2, dc 1 in all sts around. sl st to join in top of ch 2 (60 sts)

 

Riptide Slouch Hat 2

 

Round 7 
ch 2 and BPDC on the sc and ch 1 space below, then BPDC in all sts around. sl st to join in top of the BDPC, not the ch 2 (60 sts)

Riptide Slouch Hat 3

 

 

Repeat rounds 6 and 7 until you have 16 rounds done

Riptide beanie 2

 

Round 17
ch 1 and *sc in 15 sts, sc dec * do this twice, then sc in rest of sts for the round, sl st to join in top of sc (58 sts)

 

Round 18
BPSC in all sts around. sl st to join in top of sc, ch 1 cut yarn (58 sts) work in ends and enjoy!
