To Start

Make your slip knot leaving some tail on the end to be worked in later
and Ch 22

Riptide Scarf 6

Round 1

DC into the fourth chain from the hook, the 3 chs that your skipping here will count as your first DC, DC in the remaining 18 stitches, ch 1 and turn (20 sts) If your a beginner you may want to place a marker in the top of the ch 3 that you skipped, so that you will remember to DC it in later.

Riptide Scarf 5

Round 2

DC the top of the ch, and FPDC into the next 18 sts, DC into last stitch (20 sts)

Round 3 and on

Repeat round 2 until scarf is as long as you like. ch 1 cut yarn leaving a tail to be worked in with a tapestry needle.

Add tassels or fringe for a cute look if desired.

You could also make this scarf the long way, ch 150 or length desired and follow the same pattern. But I recommend if your making this to match the riptide beanie, that you make it like shown above, that way the riptide effect will all be going the same direction.
