The Riptide Slouch Hat is very simple to crochet. The colors you choose really make a difference. Mixing the right light and dark color can really make this beehive style crochet slouch hat work!
Make it longer by repeating the repeat as many times as you desire before closing off the hat.

For this project you will need:
- HOOK: 5 mm / H hook and a 6 mm / J hook
- YARN:ย 2 skeins of worsted weight yarnย 4 ply US 10 ply AU. Skeins are 100 grams / 3.5. oz – 240 meters / 262 yard

The Multiples
This stitch is done in multiples of 2
To Start: Using your 5mm / H hook
ch 66, sl st in beg st to form a ring. Ch 2
Round 1
dc in all sts. I went into the top loop only of the ch. Sl st in top of ch 2. (66 sts)
Round 2
ch 2 and *FPDC onto post of first dc, then BPDC onto next stitch. * repeat your FPDC & BPDC’s sl st in beg ch 2. (66 sts)
Round 3
ch 2 and BPDC onto the post of the ch 2 *FPDC onto the next FPDC, then BPDC onto next BPDC. * repeat round. sl st in beg BPDC (66 sts)
Round 4
ch 2 and BPDC onto the post of the BPDC & the ch 2 *FPDC onto the next FPDC, then BPDC onto next BPDC. * repeat round. sl st in beg BPDC (66 sts)
For Rounds 5 โ 8 Repeat round 4 (66 sts)

Round 9 โ Change to your 6mm / “I” hook
(NOTE: if you are changing colors every other row, there is no need to cut your yarn, just carry it up when you’re ready to change back to the other color)
ch 1 and dc into the first BPDC & ch 2, then dc in all sts around. Sl st onto the post of the beg DC. (66 sts)

Round 10
ch 1, BPDC in all sts around. Sl st onto the post of the beg BPDC. (66 sts)

Round 11
ch 2, dc in all sts, sl st in beginning ch 2 (66 sts)

For Rounds 12โ 20 repeat rounds 10 and 11 (66 sts)
Time to Reduce
Round 21
* Dc dec , dc * in all stitch around. Sl st onto the post of the beg ch 2. (45 sts)
Round 22
BPDC in all stitch around. Sl st onto the post of the beg ch 2. (45 sts)
Round 23
Dc dec in all sts around. Sl st onto the post of the beg ch 2. (23 sts)
Round 24
BPDC in all stitch around. Sl st into the top of the ch 2, ch 1 and cut your yarn leaving a long tail to sew in your hat. (23 sts)
Finishing touches
Turn your hat inside out and thread your tapestry needle with your long tail. Weave through the stitches making a draw string to pull hole closed. Tie some knots. Hide tail.
