When I first saw he V Stitch Waffle Crochet Stitch I thought I just had to try it! When I started crocheting it I realized that I’d already been using versions of this stitch in shawls and such, but never in rows and I sure never thought to give it a name. I had never thought to put it in rows like this, who ever came up with this one is brilliant! I’m so happy to be able to show you this cool looking textured stitch.
Like most stitches I’m curious how it looks in both solid and variegated colors so I worked it up both ways for you, I’ll leave it to you to decide which one you like better.

For this project you will need:
HOOK: Any size but I used 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US
YARN: Any size but I used worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU
The variegated yarn in the sample picture is Alize burcum batik color #4282 I don’t think this certain color is in print anymore. But if you like these colors I found something like it on Ice yarns’s site here
ABBREVIATIONS

ch = Chain
sk 3 sts = Skip three stitches
FPDC = Front Post Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
V st = DC 1, ch 1, DC 1 in same space
Repeat what’s in between * for rest of round.

The Gauge
4 sts per inch or 4 sts per 2 ½ Cms
To Start:
Ch in Multiples of 5 until you reach your desired width.
Row 1
DC twice into the 5th ch from the hook and Ch 1.
DC twice into the next stitch as well.
*Sk 3 sts.
DC 2 into next stitch, CH 1,
DC 2 into next stitch *
repeat for row.
DC in top of ending Ch 3. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 2
Skip 1st DC and DC into the 2nd DC of row.
*V st into the Ch 1 space (DC 1, Ch 1, DC 1)
DC in next DC. Skip last DC.
Then continue.
Skip 1st DC and DC into the next*
repeat for row.
DC in top of ending Ch 3. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 3
*Skip 1st DC.
FPDC using the 1st Post of our V st from last row.
V st into the Ch 1 space,
FPDC using the 2nd Post of our V st from last row.*
repeat for row.
DC in top of ending Ch 3. Ch 3 and turn.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you reach your desired size.
