For this project you will need:
- HOOK: Any size but I used 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US
- YARN: Any size but I used worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU
ABBREVIATIONS

ch = Chain
st = Stitch
sc = Single Crochet
dc = Double Crochet
YO = Yarn Over
Puff Stitch – YO insert your hook in st, repeat 4 more times, 11 loops on your hook. Pull through all 11 loops. Plus the loop on your hook for a total of 12 loops.
* = Repeat what is in between the stars for the rest of the row

Multiples of the stitch
This stitch is done in multiples of 8 + 4
To Start
Ch in sets of 8 until you reach the width you want. Then ch 4 more and you’re ready to start.
Row 1
skip 3 chs and dc 2 into 4th ch from hook. *Sk 3 chs, ch 1 and sc into next st, sk 3 sts, ch 1 and dc 3, ch 1, dc 3 all in the next st *
Repeat for row. Sk 3 sts and DC 3 into last ch of row. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 2
sc in 1st dc, *ch 3 and skip next 2 dc’s and Puff stitch in sc, ch 3 and sc into the ch 1 in center of your shell. * repeat for row. Sc in last sc of row. Ch 1 and turn.
*in pictures below I tried it with only 3 pulls to make a puff stitch, wasn’t big enough, so I moved to 5.
Row 3
sc in sc, * ch 1 and dc 3, ch 1, dc 3 into top of puff stitch, ch 1, sc into sc, * repeat for row. Sc into last sc of row. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 4
ch 6 and * sc into center ch of shell, ch 3 and puff stitch in sc, ch 3* repeat for row. DC into last sc of row. Ch 3 and turn
Row 5
dc 2 times into dc. * Ch 1 and sc into sc, ch 1, dc 3, ch 1, dc 3 into top of puff stitch * Repeat for row. Dc 3 into 3rd ch from bottom. Ch 1 and turn
Repeat rows 2 – 5 until you reach desired size.
