Double Shell crochet stitch – Old Coin Crochet Stitch Free crochet pattern and video tutorial

This Double Shell crochet stitch reminds me of the look of an Old Coin so this is why I called it the Old Coin Crochet Stitch, but it’s a double shell stitch and its very easy to do with just a 3 row repeat.

For this project you will need:

ABBREVIATIONS

ch = Chain

sl st = Slip Stitch

st = Stitch

sk = Skip

sk 3 sts = Skip three stitches

SC = Single Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

TRC = Triple Crochet

V Stitch = Dc 1, ch 1, DC 1

* = Repeat what’s in between * for rest of row.

Multiples of the stitch

This stitch is done in multiples of 9 + 2

 

Row 1

SC in the 2nd ch from the hook. * Sk 3 sts then DC in the next st, Ch 2 and DC in the same st this creates your first V stitch. V stitch (Dc 1, ch 1, DC 1 in the next stitch as well. Now you have 2 v stitches side by side. * Repeat what’s in between * for rest of row. SC in ending st. Ch 1 and turn

 

Row 2 (1st row of repeat)

We’ll be using the ch 1 spaces of our V stitches this row. * DC 4 into the first V stitch. Then move to the next V stitch and DC 4 into it also. SC in the SC that’s between the shells. * Repeat what’s in between * for rest of row. SC in ending SC. Ch 7 and turn

 

Row 3

Skip 3 DC’s of the shell and Sc into the 4th. Then SC into the next DC as well. * Ch 7. Skip to the same DC’s as before. Last time you used the last DC of the first shell and the first DC of the second shell. * Repeat what’s in between * for rest of row.

To end this row, you will TC into the last SC of the row. Ch 1 and turn

 

Row 4

SC in the TC. Sk over to the 2 SC’s from last row. * Do a V stitch in each of the SC’s here. Sk 3 chs and SC into the middle ch. Skip last 3 chs * Repeat what’s in between * for rest of row.

To end this row, skip 3 chs and SCinto the 4th.

 

Repeat rows 2 – 5
