Simple Beginner Stitch – Free Crochet Pattern

 

This Free Crochet pattern teaches how to do this very simple stitch that is perfect level of crochet for a beginner or a child just learning to crochet.

Simple Beginner Stitch – Free Crochet Pattern

For this project you’ll need:

HOOK: 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US

YARN: Worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU

ch = Chain

st = Stitch

sk 2 sts = skip 2 stitches

sc = Single Crochet

dc = Double Crochet

* = Repeat what is in between the stars for the rest of the row

This stitch is done in multiples of 10 + 6

 

To Start:

Ch in sets of 10 until you reach desired size, then ch 6 and you’re ready to begin.

 

Row 1

DC in 5th ch from hook, DC in next ch. * CH 3 , Sk 2 sts, sc in next stitch. Sc in next 2 sts. CH 3 , Sk 2 sts, DC in next 3 sts * repeat for row. End your row by putting a DC in last 3 sts.

Row 2

ch 1 and sc in first 3 sts. * CH 3, DC 1 in next 3 sc’s, CH 3, sc 1 in next 3 dc’s * End your row by putting a SC in last 3 sts.

Simple Beginner Stitch 8 ROW 2

 

 

Row 3

ch 3 and skip 1st st (the ch 3 counts as your first st) DC 1 in next 2 sts * CH 3, sc 1 in next 3 dc’s, CH 3, DC 1 in next 3 sc’s * End your row by putting a DC in last 3 sts.
Simple Beginner Stitch 4

 

Repeat rows 2 & 3 until you reach desired size
