I made this Crochet Strawberry Applique when I was making a garland for my daughter’s room. Wanted to bring some color into her room as a toddler. This is perfect for the beginner, easy steps to make one of these and they also make good coasters!

For this project you will need:
- HOOK: 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US
- YARN: Worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU

To Start:
ch 3 and sl st to form a ring or use ch 2 method
Round 1
Ch 2 (counts as first DC) and dc 11 into ring (12 sts)
Round 2
Ch 2 (counts as first DC) dc into the same st, *(dc 2 into next st)* (24 sts)

Round 3
Ch 2 (counts as first DC) and dc into same st, dc 1 into next st ,
*(dc 2 in next st, dc 1 into next st)* (36 sts)
Round 4
sc 1, hdc 1, hdc 1, DC 3 into same st, sc in next 8 sts, 2 dc’s in next 6 sts, sc in next 2 sts,
2 dc’s in next 6 sts, sc in next 9 sts, sl st into next st, sc 1 in next 2 sts, sl st into next st and fasten off yarn.
How to make the Leaves
Ch 7, sc in next 2 sts, HDC in next 2 sts, DC in next two sts, and without fastening off your yarn continue by chaining 7 and repeating last leaf, then repeat one more time for last leaf.
To make the seeds, just get a bit of black yarn and tie 3 knots in one end and thread the other into your sewing needle. And starting at the bottom and from the back, start to sew the black on the top leaving a little bit of space in between like shown in the picture below
Make the seeds as big or as long as you like.
