Thick Arc Crochet Stitch – Free Crochet Pattern and Tutorial

The Thick Arc Crochet Stitch is so much fun and easy to crochet! This Crochet Stitch makes a lacy but still durable piece of crocheted fabric that you can use to make swimsuit covers or a lacy top.

For this project you’ll need:

HOOK: Size yarn recommends but I used 5 mm hook or size H hook for the US

YARN: Any size but I used worsted weight yarn, 4 ply US, 10 ply AU

 

ABBREVIATIONS

ch = Chain

sl st = Slip Stitch

st = Stitch

sk a st = Skip a stitch

SC = Single Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

TRC = Triple Crochet

* = Repeat what’s in between * for rest of round.

This stitch is done in multiples of 8 + 2

 

Once you chained your multiples to you desired width continue to row 1.

 

Row 1

sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, skip 1 st, sc in next st. *Ch 5, skip 3 sts, sc into next. Ch 3, skip 3 sts, sc into next * repeat for row. To end row, ch 1, skip 1 and sc into last st. ch 1 and turn.

 

Row 2

sc into 1st sc. * DC 11 into the ch 5 space. SC into the ch 3 space to anchor your shell. * repeat for row. Sc into last sc of row. Ch 6 and turn.

 

Row 3

We’ll be working on the Arc’s this row. The middle 5 DC’s of our Arc to be exact. So you will skip the first 3 dc’s of the arc and sc into the 4th. * Ch 3, skip 3 dc’s and sc into the next. Ch 5 and skip the first 3 Dc’s of the next Arc, and Sc into the next dc. * repeat for the row. To end your row: After your last sc on your last ARC, you want to ch 2 and do a triple crochet into the ending sc. Ch 3 and turn.

 

Row 4

DC 5 in the ch 2 space. * Sc in next ch 3 space to anchor shell. DC 11 into next ch 5 space * repeat for the row. To end your row: DC 6 into ending ch 6. Chain 1 and turn.

 

Row 5

Sc into the first DC, ch 1, skip 1 dc and sc into next. * Ch 5 (repeat like you did for row 3) skip the first 3 dc’s of the arc and sc into the 4th. Ch 3, skip 3 dc’s and sc into the next dc. * repeat for the row. To end your row: After your last ch 5, skip 3 dc’s and sc into the next. Ch 1, and sc into the top of the ch 3.

 

Repeat rows 2 – 5
