I am going to let you know at the start of the row which side you are facing your project. I found this helpful to keep in mind, so I knew which way the slanted stitched would be showing, and whether or not the next stitches should be worked in front or behind them.

To Start

Ch in multiples of 10 until you reach your desired size then ch 6 more and you’re ready to begin row 1

Row 1 (Front is facing us)

DC in the 5th ch from the hook, *DC in the next 2 sts as well. Sk a ch and DC in the next two stitches. Then we’ll back up to the ch stitch you just skipped and put a DC into that Ch 1 stitch.

Sk 2 sts, and DC. Then back up again. Working in the skipped ch 2. sts, being careful not to work in front of the stitch we just made, DC into the first st, then DC into the second of our skipped sts.

DC into the next 4 sts.* repeat for row.

To end: DC in the last 4 chs.

Ch 3 and Turn

Row 2 (Back is facing us)

The turning Ch 3 counts as a stitch, DC in the next 3 sts.

* Sk 2 sts and DC in the next stitch (I will be referring to this as the middle stitch space)

Then back up again. Working in the skipped ch 2. sts, Since we have the back of our project facing us, we’ll need to make sure we keep the DC we just did to the front of our work. So we’ll be working the next two stitches in from of this DC this time.

So DC into the first st, then DC into the second of our skipped sts.

DC into then next 2 DC’s. Then we’ll back up to the same middle stitch space that we just used a second ago. You’ll see two stitches in that space. Using the left one/2nd st, and coming from the back so this stitch will show up on the front of our work, you want to grab up that post and DC into it.

DC into the next 4 sts. * Repeat for row

To end: DC in the last 4 chs.

Ch 3 and Turn

Row 3 (Front is facing us)

The turning Ch 3 counts as a stitch, DC in the next 3 sts.

* Skip the next st and DC into the next 2 sts.

Then back up to the skipped st and DC in it.

Skip 2 sts and DC into the next

Then working behind this stitch, back up to our 2 skipped stitshc and DC into the first skipped st, then DC into the second.

DC into the next 4 sts. * Repeat for row

To end: DC in the last 4 chs.

Ch 3 and Turn

Repeat rows 2 and 3
