Part two

Creating the top of the Sweater

Now we attach our sweater color. Chose one of the top petals and choose insert your hook into the ch 3 space. Pull up a loop and then pull through both loops to create a single crochet connection. Single crochet again in the same ch 3 space. Sc 2 into the next ch 3 space as well.

Then DC once in the next ch 3 space of the next petal, the DC once in the connection space between petals, then, DC into the next ch 3 space of the next flower. For more help see picture below.

Place a marker to mark the beginning stitch because we’ll be working in one continuous round. I had 111 stitches total.

Using your 5 mm hook

Sc in all stitches for 14 more rows for a total of 15 rows with your sweater color. Then choose one of your flower colors (the darker of the 2 colors is preferred) and sc 3 rows, then switch to your other flower color and sc 2 rows, then switch back to your previous color and sc 3 more rows.

Then attach your sweater color again and sc 3 more rows.

Turn your sweater where the uneven connection side is to the side, so it won’t be seen so easily.

Then ch 6 and turn, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and down the 5 sts of your chain. Continue down your row. I had 55 stitches down my row until you reach the other side.

Then do 5 SCFS’s. Ch 1 and turn. We’ll be working in rows now.

Sc in all 65 sts back and forth for 20 rows. Then cut your yarn. 1st flap done

Attach your yarn on the bottom stitches of your Ch from before and sc 5, and continue down your row. I had 56 sts on this back side. Then sc onto the 5 SCFS’s for a total of 66 sts on this side.

SC back and forth until you have 20 rows on this side as well. 2nd flap done.

When your done you will have 2 flaps, one for each side.

Next part of the CAL will show you how to mark and create your arm and neck holes
